Important Car Seat Information
Effective January 1, 2012, all children under age 8 must be properly buckled into a car seat or booster in the back seat. Children age 8 and older may use the vehicle seat belt if it fits properly, with the lap belt low on the hips touching the upper thighs and the shoulder belt crossing the center of the chest. Children who are not tall enough for proper fit must ride in a booster or car seat.
Williams v. State of California
On December 10, 2004, the San Francisco County Superior Court approved the notice of settlement in Eliezer Williams, et al. v. State of California, et al. The court ordered that the California Department of Education make available information regarding the provisions of the settlement and the process by which students on whose behalf the lawsuit was filed may file objections to the settlement. In keeping with the court's order, four documents are posted and available for downloading on CDE's Web site, http://www.cde.ca.gov/eo/ce/wc/index.asp.
